Eighth-Note Rock Beat Ride Cymbal Variations

This lesson shows you a set of ride cymbal accent patterns that add colour and texture to the eighth-note rock beat. The basic options for different ride cymbal articulations are the ‘bell stroke’ (striking the cymbal bell with the shoulder of the stick) and the ‘flange stroke’ (striking the outer-middle of the cymbal with the tip of the stick) – both demonstrated in this video.
